Delete Browsing History, Cookies, Cache And Session [For IE, Chrome, Firefox & Opera]
We use internet for many personal purposes. And we don’t want that anyone can keep a track of what we are doing. Because you might be working of a secret project or some highly secured areas. So, we think that we can delete the history and the problem will be solved. But it includes some problems. We have to manually delete the history from different browsers separately. It makes the process a bit tedious. To solve the problem, I would like to review a tool called Browser Cleaner. It is used to delete all the history from different browsers simultaneously.

Browses Cleaner is a small freeware of 778 KB only. It is a portable tool. The freeware is user friendly and the few clicks will be sufficient to complete the process. The user interface has been displayed in the snapshot below. It clearly shows that you can delete the history of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Google Chrome, Safari, Avant Browser, Adobe Flash Player and Java Runtime Environment. The huge list makes the freeware very efficient.

Every browser has its own set of options depending upon how you want to delete the history. For example, the google chrome options are shown in the snapshot below. The options include Google Chrome Cache, Cookies, History, Sessions, Password, and Download History. Similarly there are options available for all the browsers. The options are very helpful when you have to delete certain things from one browser but not from the other. Please make sure that you check all the options before clearing the history. By default, all the options are check marked. So, you have to be careful, otherwise some of the important information may be lost.

Also, you have a settings tab which is combine for all the browsers. The settings are related to the load at the windows startup, to hide the window. You will be notified when the process will be complete. It can be done in two ways: with a beep sound and also a message box will pop up. You can select the settings as per your convenience.

So, now you can easily clear all the history from different browsers with one tool. The process becomes really very easy and comfortable for the user. The users working on any project etc. which they don’t want to share with their others must try this freeware. The freeware will be though beneficial for all.

The freeware has been tested on Windows 7 and will be compatible with all the other versions also.

Windows 8 is the next upcoming version of windows, will be coming out most probably next year. Till then you can enjoy the feel of windows 8 on your windows 7 pc by installing windows 8 theme on it. Make Opened Programs & Windows Disappear & Invisible By Pressing One Key On Keyboard

Many a times it happen that we may have to use some softwares or other windows which might be objectionable to our seniors like gaming during the working hours, using internet for personal use and many more. Also, there can be a situation, that some colleagues might have habit of sneaking in others system and you don’t want to share the project you are working on. In all such circumstances you have to be very careful and alert. To lower down your burden, I would like to introduce a freeware known as Magic Box Key.

Magic Box key is a small freeware of 1.72 MB. You have to download and install the tool. The freeware is used to hide or show the browsers, folders or any other application that is present on your desktop. This will make all your work really very easy. Now, you can do any number of jobs secretly and that too without tension. The user interface has been displayed in the snapshot below.

It will display the complete list of all the current active programs. Even if you have opened certain windows after opening the device, simply refresh and the new items will be displayed in the list. Check box all the options which you want to hide instantaneously. There are few options present as shown in the snapshot below.

You can easily choose the language. Download from the software website if available. Now, the main thing comes how to hide the windows? There are two options: use left mouse button + right mouse button or the F12 key. Select the option which you feel to be more convenient. You can also enable the boss key to hide all the desktop icons or the taskbar. Also, you can choose to mute the sound system whenever the windows are hidden and few others.

So, the tool proves to be very user friendly. But still there are few problems: the freeware doesn’t saves the option from the list. So, you can’t close the tool window after the changes. The tool will be present on your system tray after the minimisation. Also, everytime you switch on your system you have to make the choices. You can’t even save the common windows which must be hidden very often. Apart from these few restrictions, the tool will give your wonderful results.

The tool has been tested on Windows 7 and it is also compatible with Windows Vista/ XP/ 2003/ 2000/ 98.

Displaying Hi-Color Icons without the Plus Pack
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Control Panel \ desktop \ WindowMetrics
3. Add or edit Shell Icon BPP=16 where the number is the color depth.
4. The default is 8 (bit or 256 colors).

Backing Up the Registry
There are many backup programs for the registry but if the computer goes down and you can't fire off Win95 because of the registry problem.
Backup to a directory the following files:
• SYSTEM.DATA
• SYSTEM.DA0 (Yes seem to be the same size)
• USER.DAT
• USER.DA0 (Same size likely)
• WIN.INI
• CONTROL.INI
• SYSTEM.INI
These files can be copied to the windows directory from Win95 or DOS to help correct problems.

Removing Unwanted Items from the RUN Menu
1. Start the REGEDIT program
2. Search for the word RUNMRU
3. Delete the ones you don't want
4. Rename so they are all in alphabetical order again
5. Close and restart windows

Opening a DOS Window to either the Drive or Directory in Explorer
Add or Edit the following Registry Keys

Creating a Legal Text Notice Before Logon
You can create a banner that will come up just before you logon to the computer:
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKeyLocalMachine \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ WinLogon
3. Create a new string value called LegalNoticeCaption and give it a value you want to see in the menu bar
4. Create a new string value called LegalNoticeText and give it a value you want to see in the dialog box
Now before anyone logs into that computer, this banner will come up on the screen.
This can be useful for any legal warnings you want to give regarding the use of the computer.

Removing the Hand Icon from Shared Resources
When you share a local resource, Windows95 normally puts a hand in from of that resources icon.
To remove hand icon from your shared resources:
1. Start Regedit.
2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT / Network
3. Open SharingHandler.
4. Clear it's default value
5. Restart Windows.
6. To restore set Default value "msshrui.dll".

Enabling the Middle Mouse Button on Logitech Mouse
To enable the middle mouse button on Logitech Mouses to act as a double-click button by only pressing it once:

Easily Opening a File with Notepad
This will enable you to right click on any file and have the option to open it with notepad.

Disabling the Blinking Cursor
To stop the cursor from blinking in applications such as Word:

Automatic Shutdown with Windows NT
Most laptops allow the operating system to turn off the hardware after shutdown, instead of displaying the message telling you it's now safe to turn off your system.
You can take advantage of this capability by enabling the Power Down After Shutdown feature.
To enable this feature, simply add a REG_SZ value named HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\PowerdownAfterShutDown and set it to 1.
Next, tell NT to shut down and see if the machine turns itself off after shutting down. If it doesn't, change the value back to 0 to restore normal operation.

Kill Hung Processes When Logging Off in Windows NT
When you tell NT to shut down, it first sends shutdown requests to any running processes.
Most 32-bit applications honor these requests and shut down, but older 16-bit apps running in the Virtual DOS Machine often won't.
When this occurs, the operating system prompts you with a dialog box asking if you want to kill the task, wait for the task to die on its own, or cancel the shutdown.
By modifying the Registry, you can automate this process.
You can force NT to kill all running processes on shutdown by adding a REG_SZ value named HKEY_USER\\ControlPanel\Desktop\AutoEndTasks and set the value to 1. You can also add this value to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT so that all new accounts will shut down the same way.

NT Crash Log File
In addition to the crash log file, you can also enable two other methods of crash notification and logging.
You can enable an administrative alert by changing the value of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl\SendAlert to 1. The next time the system crashes, an administrative alert will be sent that may provide the first sign of the crash.
You can also make NT log the crash in the event log by changing the value of
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\CrashControl\LogEvent to 1 instead of its default 0. Now, the exact time of the crash will be permanently recorded.

Changing the Location of Outlook Express Data Files
Normally Outlook Express keeps its data files in the C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express directory.
To change this:
1. First copy those files to the new location
2. Start RegEdit
3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Outlook Express
4. Change the Store Root key to the directory where you moved the files

To add the option Open With when you right click on a file in the Explorer:

Automatically Deleting a Registry Key
Normally you cannot automatically delete registry keys from reg file. But there is a way...
Simply include a minus sign inside the left bracket before the main key.
For example.
If you want to delete the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 8.0 \ Common \ Assistants, your regfile would simply look like:

REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Common\Assistants]
This would delete that key and any below it.

Fixing no AutoRun for CDs
If your CDs have stop starting automatically, and you have checked everything else:
1. Go to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
2. The value for NoDriveTypeAutoRun should be set to 95 00 00 00

Renaming the File System Profiles
In the Control Panel / System / Performance / File System, you can select either Desktop Computer, Mobile or docking system, or Network Server.

Changing Office 2000's Excel Undo History

By default, Excel has only approximately 16 undo's you can perform.
To increase that number:
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 9.0 \ Excel \ Options
3. Add a dword called UndoHistory
4. Give it the value you want for the amount you want.

Changing the Title on Windows Media Player

You can change the title bar for the Windows Media Player
1. Start Regedit

3. Create a string value of TitleBar

Setting the Recycle Bin to Always Delete

You can set the recycle bin to always delete items (like holding down the shift key when dragging files to the recycle bin)

Setting the Internet Explorer Home Page
If you want to set the home page used by Internet Explorer through the registry

Preparing to Move Hard Drive to Another Computer
To remove the devices from device manager when taking a HD from one computer to another,
simply:
1. Run Regedit

3. This removes all of the hardware specific settings

Comparing Registries
While working with changes to your system, you might want to see what is changing in your Registry.
Since you can export it to a text file, the steps are fairly easy
1. Start Regedit
2. With the very top level select - My Computer, on the Toolbar select Registry / Export Registry File
3. I usually save it to the root of the C: drive with the name before (you don't need to add an extension)
4. Make the change to your system
5. Go back to Regedit
6. Press F5 to update it
7. Export the Registry like step 2
8. Name the file after and have it go in the same directory
9. Open up a DOS window
10. Go to the directory where the two exported files are
11. Enter FC before.reg after.reg > diff.txt
12. Then you can edit diff.txt with your favorite text editor.

Setting Excel 2000 High-Contrast Cell Selection
If you want to increase the contrast in selected cells:
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Office \ 9.0 \ Excel \ Options
3. Add a DWORD value call Options6
4. Give it a value of 16
5. Now when you select cells, they will be white on black.

Changing Common Icons
You can change many of the common Windows icons.
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ explorer \ Shell Icons
3. The default icons are numbered in the right panel from 0-40
4. Double click on the number of the particular icon you want to change. See the chart below.
5. Enter the name of the icon file you want to use followed by the number of the icon in that file.
Note: The numbering starts with zero.
6. If you use a single .ICO file, it should be followed by a 0.
7. e.g. - filename.dll,4 - This would actually be the 5th icon since it starts with 0.
8. Make sure you delete the hidden file C:\WINDOWS\SHELLICONCACHE

Preventing Changes to File Associations

You can prevent users from changing associations via Windows Explorer's Tools / Folder Options / File Types tab.
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explore
3. Create REG_DWORD data type NoFileAssociate
4. Give it a value of 1

Locking File Associations

If you have your file associations the way you want for a particular file type, you can remove it from the list that gets displayed in the Folder Options / File Types screen
1. Start Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
3. Scroll to the file association you want to lock.
4. In the right panel, create a new Binary value
5. Call it EditFlags
6. Give it a value of 01 00 00 00
7. Now when you go to the Folder Options / File Types screen, you won't see that file type listed.

Turning off System Beeps

If you want to turn off all system beeps (like the ones that go through your computers' internal speaker):
1. Start Regedit

To make your own Live USB or CD, you need to follow these simple Steps:

Step 1 : Download USB / CD image files from this link.

Step 2 : Download HJ Split Tool to join these files downloaded from the above link.

Step 3 : Place all the files downloaded in step 1 in a same folder and run HJ Split tool to join the parts of these files. This will create an ISO file which we will use in further steps.

Step 4 : Download UNetbootin and run the same and insert a USB pen drive larger than 175 MB capacity to USB port of your PC. [ Fixed ] Solve Exe or Programs Don’t Run

If you are facing a problem while trying to open your Windows Explorer from taskbar or even from start menu and the following error is displayed whenever you try to open your windows explorer, then today we will provide you a detail solution to fix this error.

This error basically occurs due to corruption of one of your registry key. The reason for corruption of your registry could be because of any virus affecting your computer or could be due to change of registry value by a new program which you have installed recently or might be some any other reason. When you see the above error, you will also find that when you press Win key+E, a window opens displaying “Unspecified error“.

However, you may find that you are able to launch Windows Explorer by double click on My Computer icon or after trying to include additional switches like ” /e or /n” with explorer.exe, but if you want to recover your computer from this problem, then you will need to fix the registry key “ HKCR\Folders”.

To fix this registry key, just go to this link. After that you will see a page as follow.

Now right click on folder which I have highlighted on the above snapshot and then click on option Save link as. After you click on save link as, a new window will open.

Now save this file to any of your preferred location. Now go to this file location and then you will see a zip file with name “folder_fix_w7”. Open this file and extract it to Desktop and ensure that you save the file in REG format. REG is the registry format and after extracting this file to desktop, you will see a icon as follow on desktop.

After that right click on this REG file and click on option Merge. The alternate way of doing this is open your Registry Editor by typing regedit in start menu. Then click Import option from file menu to merge REG file contents. Do ensure that you are logged in as administrator to change this registry key else you will see a error message and you won’t be able to change this registry key.

After changing this registry, close the Registry Editor and then restart your computer. Now you should be able to open your Windows Explorer from both taskbar and start menu.

The name of the file plays a significant role in helping us to remember its contents. Mostly in offices where each department has several under-departments for example, there are two departments viz. Finance and marketing and they have their respective sub-departments with same name (lets say tax).

So in order to differentiate between the files of finance and marketing we have to name their sub-department files with prefixes.
